“I wanted to be the philanthropy intern because human trafficking and domestic violence are topics that hit close to home for me. As a domestic violence survivor and a healthcare provider, it is critical to be involved with advocacy and awareness of these often ignored issues.

I am especially honored to intern for the project my chapter president, Kyra, is the representative for because it takes immense strength to be open about having such hardship and I’m happy to support her and Project 2024 in every way I can.”

“I contacted WAVI a few times back in 2017 when my previous relationship took a turn for the worst. I was a new mom, and terrified about what was happening to my family. The first time I called them I spent most of the phone call crying, and the woman on the other end patiently waited without a single ounce of judgement. I was given resources, support, and encouragement.

Over the years, I have seen WAVI help so many people in my community. They help people who are going through unimaginable things and are compassionate while doing so, never making the victim feel like a burden. I am forever grateful for them, not only for the help they provided me but also for what they do for my community every day.”

Project 2024 has been announced! This year, Illuminate is supporting WAVI in Rapid City, SD💓 They were gracious enough to join us at our kickoff event in Las Vegas where we raised $1,557.23 with a grand total of $4,187 raised so far👏 @sdwavi

Meet your Illuminate Co-Founder, Celeste!🕯️

Supporting victims of domestic abuse and sex trafficking is important to Illuminate.

I really like that we’re working to stop common forms of exploitation. Philanthropy, such as fundraising, is vital since the organization helps survivors of unspeakable distress by addressing the root causes and consequences of these issues. Illuminate not only offers immediate aid, but also works toward long-term solutions… empowering survivors to rebuild their lives.

Witnessing the tangible impact of our efforts from supplying shelters that offer counseling and legal support reinforces my belief in the importance of our work. Through Illuminate, we are not just offering support, we are fostering resilience and hope in the lives of those who need it most.

The Project 2024 kickoff event in Las Vegas is 37 days away! We can’t wait to announce the shelter that we’re supporting and gather with all of our Illuminators to raise money for trafficking & abuse victims.

WHO WE ARE

Our Mission To Help Survivors

Illuminate is an award-winning central Illinois based non-profit dedicated to eradicating trafficking & abuse by providing resources and assistance to victims. Within the last few years, we have donated over thirty thousand dollars to aid in purchasing wish list items, bus tickets, holiday gifts, meals, and more for survivors in domestic violence shelters that are pursuing recovery and/or rehabilitation. Our efforts include ground level research, outreach services, after-care, and more; which have helped us support those in need across the United States.

Fundraising month takes place each November, where Illuminators race to secure donations and hit our annual goal. 100% of proceeds go toward both shelter supplies and monetary donation, giving us a hands-on approach to those that we're supporting.
